Hi again! Ted here on September 14th.
We've
got 3 festivals in 5 weeks and really really really want to
see YOU at the screenings! Please please spread the word...especially
to your Bay Area pals as this is the first San Francisco Area
screening and we have a HUGE, BEAUTIFUL theatre in Orinda
to fill! WEAR YOUR BEST COSTUME, DRESS, TUX, MASK, BOA FOR
THE EVENING!!
We've
made an agreement with an international distributor. NO sales
have been made yet...but hopefully some TV stations in Europe
will be interested soon.
OK!
That's the short and sweet of it. Oh! Thanks to MPLS and the
great support/interviews/press and audience there! We missed
the playa this year...but shall be back in 05! Much love,
Ted.

We've recently been accepted to the Orinda Film Festival.

This is "East Bay" area just outside San Francisco.
So all you Bay area burners should be happy about that! This
is our 10th festival!!
OH
RIGHT! WE WON THE COLUMBINE AWARD FOR BEST DOCUMENTARY AT
MOONDANCE IN BOULDER, CO!! Thanks to Moondance and all of
those who went to that screening. =)
I'm
heading back to Minneapolis to perform my one-man play, Recollect
the Snow (www.recollectthesnow.com)
at the Minnesota Fringe Festival. We will also screen Nothing
Without You at the Oak St. Cinema on the campus of the University
of Minnesota. This screening will be at 3 p.m. on Sunday August

Many
have been asking for the DVD. Well....we're working on it.
We promise. Please keep checking the website or emailing us
for updates...but this still may take several months to figure
out. In the meantime we'll be at the San Diego Film Festival
(Sept 29-Oct 3) and the Orinda Film Festival (Oct 14-17)
Thanks
again for all your support! Miss you! Please stay in touch!!!
MAY
3, 2004
Wow!
Ted here on Monday May 3rd. What a month! Paul and I were
at 4 festivals in April alone and we finished it off by winning
the Audience Award for Best Film at the Arivitst Film Festival!
We had over 300 people see the film at the Egyptian Theatre
in the heart of Hollywood. We've been accepted to a couple
more festivals and are considering invitiations to others.
The new acceptances are Filmstock in the UK and Wine Country
in....well...Wine Country! Please let us know in the "CONTACT"
section of the webpage your thoughts about the film, the website....or
any other topics you care to discuss. Thanks! We'll try to
add to the updates page whenever that makes sense! Here's
the details on the Artivist Awards night.
Awards
Night: Artivist Film Festival: Tuesday April 27
On a night that honored such incredible "artivists"
as Ed Begley Jr., Mike Farrell and Tippi Hedren and recognized
such truly remarkable films as "Born Into Brothels"
and "Chattel".....and included such big-time docs
as "Super Size Me" and "The Corporation".....on
that same night Paul and I found ourselves on the stage for
the final award of the night: Audience Award for Best Film.
We
knew that we were in the running (owing in large part to the
more than 300 people who came out to see it on Saturday at
11pm...and another 40 or so who came on Monday morning).....but
we dared not get our hopes up too high. So Paul, Vikki and
Barb and I sat through what was an absolutely wonderful night
of very meaningful awards and speeches. I was a bit distracted....was
going through what I would say if we won......... And then....Holy
Cow!...we won! Here's what I said....I think.
"Um............Some
of you may be surprised to see me here in a coat and tie.
I don't know...somewhere between the desert and here, somebody
taught me how to dress. In all seriousness though, we are
deeply humbled and honored to be here...Just to be included
in a festival like this with such an incredible slate of films
like Super Size Me, Born Into Brothels and War Photographer
is an honor. Thank you to the Artivist Festival for their
first in what I'm sure will be a long-running annual event.
(I then looked around and saw Begley, Ferrell and dozens of
serious filmmakers and got a bit overwhelmed for a second)
I mean......the WEIGHT....in this room is unbelievable.
I'd
like to thank my girlfriend, composer, co-producer, partner,
Barbara Cohen for all her hard work and patience and I'd like
to thank my co-director and co-producer Paul Kelleher for
putting up with watching my naked butt on his monitor for
way too many weeks and months. The last thing I'd like to
say is that I would like to dedicate this award to all the
filmmakers who are making their films because they HAVE to.
They have to tell their story. They aren't seeking to be famous
or rich....they simply MUST tell their story. To me, that
is the Generosity of Spirit. And it's that same Generosity
of Spirit that sustained me in the desert during this experiment
and it's that same generosity of spirit that we need to activate
not only among ourselves but out side of our normal circles...with
those we don't know. Thank you. Here's Paul."
Then
it was Paul's turn...
His best line was that he felt like he was an "Accidental
Artivist" .....this made EVERYONE laugh. He thanked Vikki
and the festival and blah blah.... He was actually very articulate
and moved by it all and gave a very nice speech...tho I don't
remember what he said as I was too busy trying NOT to drop
the engraved glass statue.
Then
we took some pictures, greeted our well-wishers, had some
kind of interview and drank with Dennis Weaver and Mike Farrell
and the rest of the crowd! Overall, Paul and I were surprised,
humbled, honored, agape and downright overjoyed. So THANK
***YOU*** TO ALL WHO CAME TO THE SCREENINGS THIS WEEKEND!!
YOU MADE THE DIFFERENCE!!! AND THANKS TO EVERYONE ELSE FOR
YOUR SUPPORT OF US AND THIS PROJECT THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE
PROCESS. WE COULDN'T HAVE DONE IT WITHOUT YOU!!!
